    CalUMS Lab Rules
    • To use the Lab, all that is necessary is for you to sign in with your name, date, time, and what you will be doing (i.e. Internet, e-mail, word processing) and sign out with the time. A sign-in sheet will be located at the front desk.
    • No food or drink is allowed in the lab.
    • No copying or use of unauthorized software. Pirating, using, or duplicating programs, documents, or files without license or agreement on behalf of the author, programmer, or cooperation who publishes such software is illegal and is not tolerated.
    • People with CalUMS-related work have top priority in the lab. People doing things as personal e-mail, "surfing the web", or doing personal business have the lowest priority in the lab. Please be considerate of others.
    • The Lab is a work and study environment, just like the library or other buildings on campus. Loud noise, disruptive behavior, etc. Is not tolerated and may cause you to be ejected from the lab.
    • Please conserve on paper. There is a minimal charge for printing, but do realize that this paper is costly, and everyone needs to share it. Spell check and proofread your documents before printing, and try to limit the number of copies you print. Recycle all paper not needed in the cardboard bins. Be careful when printing from the Internet, print only what you need from the web page (eg. print selection, print frame, or cut and paste); If you need help ask the Lab Assistant.

    CalUMSInternet Policies
    • Non-school related Internet use has a lower priority in the lab, and personal projects (e-mail, IRC, etc.) have the lowest priority in the lab.
    • Any gamings are not allowed in the lab. This is a university computer lab, not an arcade; keep this in mind.
    • Inappropriate or offensive Internet sites (i.e. racist, sexist, prejudicial, hateful, violence-oriented, pornographic) offend some people. While the First Amendment is a guaranteed right to all, if someone asks you to exit or quit the particular site where you are at, please do so promptly.
